Cordless Butane Soldering Tools

The HD1938K 9-in-1 Gas Torch and Soldering Iron Kit is listed as a nine-piece kit for heating and soldering tasks. A separate option, the HD1938-2 Gas Torch and Soldering Iron, combines manual ignition with interchangeable soldering tips and lists torch temperatures up to 1300°C and soldering temperatures up to 400°C. The HD1938-2 listing identifies HDGAS5 purified butane as compatible fuel; Hot Devil advises against running this model for more than 10 minutes at a time. Check package contents and follow the instructions for the exact tool.

Butane Blow Torches and Heat Guns

The HD988 butane blow torch has piezo self-ignition, an anti-flare feature, safety lock and adjustable gas flow, with a manufacturer-listed flame temperature up to 1350°C. It uses HDGAS5 purified butane; the tool is supplied without fuel and Hot Devil advises against running it for more than 10 minutes at a time. The separate HDHG butane heat gun provides directed hot air up to 510°C, with adjustable gas flow and a burner tube that rotates through 90 degrees. Confirm the required fuel and application for the exact model.

Propane, Trade Map and Brazing Torch Kits

The HDPTK propane torch kit uses a hand sparker for ignition and has adjustable gas flow and a solid-brass burner tube; its specified connection is for CGA600/BOM propane cylinders. For oxy-fuel brazing, the HDBTK Oxy Power Pro brazing kit combines oxygen and Trade Map gas, with separate oxygen/fuel controls, flashback arrestors and a pinpoint burner tip. These are different fuel systems; check the connection, supplied cylinders, safety instructions and suitable application before selecting a kit.

Gas Refills and Replacement Cartridges

HDGAS5 is a 300 ml canister of butane described as purified 11 times and is specified for selected Hot Devil tools such as the HD1938-2 and HD988. HD200C is a different product: a pack of four purified-butane cartridges with a bayonet connection, specified for the HDWK Heat Wand. These fuel formats are not interchangeable by assumption; match the gas type and connector in the individual tool instructions.

Heat Wands and Weed Control

The HDWK Heat Wand is specified with a 650 mm burner tube, auto ignition, adjustable gas flow and heat up to 1350°C. It uses the HD200C purified-butane cartridge, which is sold separately. Hot Devil describes it for heat-based weed control around areas such as paths, pavers and driveways, as well as lighting outdoor fires. Follow the manufacturer instructions for open-flame use and keep the specified fuel cartridge separate from the tool purchase where required.

Firelighters

SCHNAP lists HDF32 firelighters (32-pack) and HDF100 firelighters (100-pack). Manufacturer information describes these firelighters as odourless and easy to light, with a sawdust-and-wax composition. They are intended for uses such as barbecues and outdoor fires rather than electrical installation work.

Frequently asked questions

How do I choose between a soldering tool, blow torch and heat gun?

The HD1938-2 combines a soldering tip and flame; the HD988 is an open-flame butane blow torch; and the HDHG supplies directed hot air up to 510°C for selected heat-shrink tasks. Compare the work, material, heat-control requirements and the exact model instructions.

Which butane fuel should I use with HD1938-2 and HD988?

The relevant listings specify HDGAS5 purified butane. Other tools can require a different container or connection; for example, the HDWK specifies the HD200C cartridge. Follow the fuel and connector details for each exact model.

What is the difference between HDPTK and HD030?

HDPTK is a propane torch kit with a hand sparker, while HD030 is a Trade Map torch with a 360-degree swivel burner tube and manufacturer-listed heat up to 2050°C. Their specified fuel systems differ, so do not select a cylinder by appearance alone.

What fuel does the HDWK Heat Wand require?

The HDWK listing specifies the HD200C purified-butane cartridge, which is sold separately. Check the product listing and manufacturer instructions before use.

Are all Hot Devil products compliant with Australian standards?

Compliance should be confirmed for the specific product and application. Refer to the individual SCHNAP product page and the applicable Australian/New Zealand standards rather than relying on a blanket statement for the entire brand.
